Meet The NARA Founder

Welcome to the National Autoimmune Resilience Alliance (NARA). It is an honor to have you visit our page. Millions of individuals, including our founder Denise, suffer from debilitating and often misunderstood autoimmune conditions. Denise's personal journey includes fibromyalgia and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), but NARA's mission extends to supporting individuals with all autoimmune illnesses and their overlapping conditions. These complex diseases cause daily chronic pain and can lead to life-threatening complications.
Like millions of others, Denise battles invisible illnesses while watching her mother and loved ones face similar challenges. When autoimmune disease also affected her son, her resolve to create meaningful change deepened. Her commitment to NARA stems from a profound desire to help patients fight with courage and know they are not alone in this journey.
Denise often says, "It's easy to become your diagnosis, but you must be willing to fight and take control of your life." Even on difficult days, she pushes forward, drawing strength from reminders of her purpose: a purple butterfly, a purple ribbon, and love and support from her husband, sons, family, and friends. Having a positive support system is crucial.
Her message is rooted in hope and resilience: embracing autoimmune diseases with accurate knowledge, strength, support, and courage transforms how we live. While these conditions are part of our story, they do not define us. Going on with our lives, pursuing our dreams, and finding joy despite chronic illness is not just important. It is our superpower. Autoimmune fighters are brave and resilient. While no two people suffer identically, the spectrum ranges from mild to severe and debilitating cases that profoundly impact daily functioning. Yet with the right tools, community, and mindset, we can thrive.
NARA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service. Our mission is to educate, support, and build community for individuals facing autoimmune diseases and their overlapping conditions.
We raise awareness while diligently educating caregivers, healthcare professionals, families, and friends about chronic illnesses. NARA hosts chronic pain conferences, community walks, and programs focused on nutrition, medication management, leadership development, financial planning, and self-care without guilt. We advocate for millions of patients and help fund critical scientific research across the autoimmune disease spectrum.
Our goal is to provide accurate information and resources to help patients successfully manage their personal and professional lives. Access to reliable information empowers both fighters and caregivers to navigate these invisible illnesses with greater confidence. Please join us in our mission to make a difference and help people reclaim their lives.
Thank you for visiting our website. We humbly appreciate your support.
In Health & Wellness,
